** NEW ** See below for the latest video of Family Style in action shot at Bugsy's Jazz Club in the south of Poland - August 2006:
A real family band coming from a small town near Milano (Italy) called Arluno, Family Style were formed in 1994 by guitarist MARCO LIMIDO, to play the best Chicago Blues, steamy shuffles, topped by awesome harp and dynamic licks, & lots of swing (Blues Review)!
Together with younger brother FRANCO LIMIDO (Recorded with Robert Palmer) on vocals and harmonica, cousin DAVIDE BIANCHI on bass and the fascinating STEFANIA "Pretty Baby" AVENALI on drums, Family Style launched themselves to the world's blues circuit, and have never looked back, they are simply the best!
Family Style have made many friends during their European tours in recent years. They are great guys, of course, but the secret of their success is phenomenal live playing.
Their gigs are technical master classes and, just as importantly, joyous celebrations of a music they so clearly love the natural blues (Nottingham Post).
Whether performing distinctive and thoughtfully original material or sensitively interpreting the work of others, they reach out to their audiences who never fail to return the embrace by the end of the evening. Italian Blues deluxe!!
The band is currently on the road celebrating their 10th anniversary around Europe (and not only...) with successful concerts in Belgium, Holland, Poland, England, France, Italy, Switzerland and more to come....
"... and the stage was set for an absolute belter of a gig. Much of their material is original and covers a huge range of styles: funk, Chicago blues, shuffles, New Orleans style beats, cool jazzy stuff, summat for everyone really. Franco Limido was great on harp and vocals, imagine a singing Paul Lamb and you'll get the idea! The bass/drum backline were Dog's Bollocks candidates and the band was fun to watch, too, with some inspired clowning on "Crazy Legs". " - Dave Kingsbury from the Running Horse, Nottingham's website (2004).
"These guys sound as if they've lived every teardrop and heartbreak. Of special note is Franco. His harp is the natural extension of his vocals, which have pure passion hanging on every word. And what about Marco's guitar----spine tingling! Blue Flame has done it again. Simply Great."
- LEE COTTEN - ROCK AND BLUES NEWS, USA DECEMBER 1999
"….one of Italy's top blues bands in concert. "Rollin' Over New Orleans" is rollicking jump; "Livin' Lovin' Drinkin'" is a bitter slow blues that finds the entire band playing with well defined dynamics and the soloists handling their choruses effectively. Franco Limido blows great harp on "Pub Crawl" and Marco's guitar on the mid-tempo shuffle "Every Time You Smile" hits the mark."
- BLUES REVUE - USA MARCH 2000
Labeled the best blues band in Italy, this live CD certainly lives up to those credentials. A scorching mix of songs that will stand alongside the best. Strong whiskey soaked vocals (or should that be grappeli soaked?) from Franco, who also scorches on harmonica with some wicked riffs. Older brother Marco simply sizzles on guitar, holding you by the throat with his hot dynamic licks. A mixture of hard hitting shuffles and ballads, a tiny dash of swing, performed with a tight raw edge and imparting the feeling that these guys not only enjoy what they do but have a deep passion for the blues. ....a huge 76 minutes of blues, more than enough to satisfy all blues fans.
- MARK 'RADAR' WATSON (MR BLUES) ON 19TH SEPTEMBER 2000 - AUSTRALIA
"A New Star Is Born! WE ARE AMAZED. This is great music. With a load of Soul and Feeling. Family Style, from Italy plays one beautiful kind of blues music. ...I can't sit still listening ....! ....Family Style from Italy is the second band in the New Millennium that I really get wild about. We've seen loads of bands, good bands, but every once in awhile there is one that is better than all the rest. THIS IS ONE OF THEM. Go see them when they are around."
- FRANK, BLUESCRUISER THE NETHERLANDS OCTOBER 2000
".... the Limidos play tightly together and make a formidable combination. A fine CD , blues guitar and harp aplenty, all in the Family Style.
- MIKE GARNER, NEW ZEALAND NEWS
" Spotlight Franco and Marco as artists that can fit into any outfit anytime, anywhere. This CD - Live Style - is a must for any discerning blues collector, Blues - Italian Style - Family Style. I want to thank my friend Franc Skinner, for the opportunity to listen and review this excellent material."
- DELTA DAWN JANUARY 2001, SPALDING, LINCOLNSHIRE, ENGLAND.
"This group plays great swing/boogiewoogie/jump/blues tunes and they do it with some damned outright swagger and confidence. If not for just an occasional accent coming thru on the vocals here and there you would swear their parents grew up in the delta. The stand out to me is the harp player. His playing is down the Mark Ford school of playing. Good strong overdrive, and in your face when needed. This is a strong (6 1/2) HARP SALUTE CD. Great stocking stuffer for those harmonica heads!!!"
