The UK market is one of the very hardest markets to crack and even harder is you are a European artist. Diana Silveira reached fame - as in real celebrity fame, with all the good and bad that goes with it - in her native Portugal ... so much so she turned her back on it all, preferring to live her life away from the spotlight, spending time in Paris, California and elsewhere. But she never gave up on making music, preferring to work within the slightly more anonymous set up of bands, rather than under her own name. Until now, that is. Moving to England, with more than enough talent and life experience to embrace music again under her own terms, I've never witnessed such demand for an artist, particularly based solely on 'word of mouth' following a guest appearance with The Nat Martin Band and a cameo 'sit-in' with Kirk Fletcher at the The 100 Club for London Blues Month promoted by AGMP Concerts.
Half a dozen highly regarded and established Blues Festivals have already contacted BiG i AM Promotions and Management about booking her for their main stage (we've accepted!) and a whole host of club bookings likewise. So we have to record some music, find the musicians and bed in a band in time to fulfil these commitments which commence with a debut UK show at Coolham Live Music Club on 6th June. She'll be ready. She'll have to be ready.
The other weekend, Diana was accorded the honour of guesting with Redtenbacher's Funkestra for a noted 'masterlink' session. These are some of the most battle hardened, heavily CV'd cats around and nothing much impresses them overmuch but, trust me, they were impressed.
So, so far, she's rolled the dice and thrown a double six. She knows, and we know, it won't always be this easy. Like I say this is one of the toughest markets in the world, and she's in it for the long haul, for the right reasons, and she's in no rush. A serious career in the music industry is always a marathon and not a sprint. We wanna build this properly, from the bottom up, with great songs and a real, music loving, fanbase. But that said, she's one hell of a powerhouse; a rock/blues/soul singer who pretty much is in a field of one right now. An explosive performer, for sure.
